Since October 2024, an original section of the Berlin Wall has been on display in front of the Rheinhotel Dreesen. It was previously located at the “Ständige Vertretung” (StäV) at Cologne/Bonn Airport. After the StäV closed, the owners, Friedel Drautzburg and Harald Grunert, gave the segment to Fritz Georg Dreesen on permanent loan. They are convinced that it has found a particularly worthy place at this historic location.

The piece of the Wall was designed by the renowned Berlin artist Ben Wagin, who used his works to promote peace, freedom, and remembrance of German history.

The wall segment proudly continues the long tradition of our hotel: the Rheinhotel Dreesen has repeatedly been the scene of important moments in German history. Today, the piece of the wall commemorates the period of division, but also the power of reunification and the importance of taking responsibility for the future.
